PICK OF THE LITTER

Pick of the Litter follows five labrador puppies who embark on a 20-month journey to become assistance dogs for people with disability. Of the 800 pups born every year at the training organisation, only 300 ultimately prove suitable to be paired with a person who is blind or visually impaired. These dogs are destined for great things. Over the course of their formative years, assisted by volunteers and skilled trainers, we follow the trials and tribulations in their development as guide dogs.
The film offers a fascinating insight into the work that goes into training these precious pooches, and will have you rooting for them to pass their exams and meet their new owners.
Please note: This session will feature open audio description, along with the films’ regular audio tracks. Audio description is an additional audio track, which describes important visual elements of the film during breaks in the dialogue, to provide access for viewers who are blind or have low vision.
The NFSA supports the National Companion Card program - please contact us to arrange tickets. This screening is presented on the International Day of People with Disability.
