It is Australian government policy to encourage and help Australians ‘chase that dream’ - ownership of their own home.

Commissioned by the Department of Housing and Construction, Chase That Dream is a docu-drama about the problems that beset a young family trying to buy their own home.

Based on real-life experiences, the series follows a couple over four years and various accommodation arrangements, including a house, caravan, and living with her family. Aimed at increasing buyers' awareness and understanding of the issues involved in the housing market, it shows the difficulties faced by low-income earners trying to save money to buy a home or even rent decent premises.
