1988, 60 Minutes
Using The Land examines Australia’s physical environment to help provide answers to four major questions:
What is the importance of the land to Australians?
How have Australians used the land over time?
What are the effects of this usage?
And what needs to be done to protect and conserve the environment as a sustainable resource for the future?
The program shows both changes in attitudes, particularly in relationship to land use, and Australia’s transition to becoming one of the most highly urbanised countries in the world today.
The program is divided into six themes: Owning the Land, Changing the Land, Farming the Land, Mining the Land, Settling the Land and Appreciating the Land.
