This acclaimed feature film is based on the true story of Annie McDonald, a child with cerebral palsy who was institutionalised from an early age in a hospital for children with severe disabilities, and was unable to communicate with anybody.
Jessica Hathaway (Angela Punch McGregor) works in a hospital for disabled children. Among the children in her charge is Annie, who has had cerebral palsy since birth. Jessica discovers Annie's considerable intelligence and endeavours to demonstrate it to everyone. She finds that she is drawn into a struggle against the establishment where the odds are stacked against her, a fight that eventually takes her to court.
A heartwarming and uplifting drama, Annie’s Coming Out is a moving testimony to love and the triumph of the human spirit.
